PSHE & RSE at Copeland Road.
Our PSHE & RSE leader is Mrs Summerfield.
PSHE & RSE is the responsibility of the whole Governing Body.
We incorporate RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) into our PSHE lessons. Children at Copeland Road are taught PSHE & RSE in blocks throughout the year which fall into 3 different categories: Relationships, Health and Wellbeing and Living in the Wider World. This allows children to link their previous knowledge from previous years. In PSHE & RSE lessons, children learn using a range of different activities including drama and writing activities.
When children leave Copeland Road Primary we would like them to be able to:
- Be healthy, independent and responsible members of society. They will know how to keep themselves safe online as well as in the world around them.
- Form healthy relationships with others including family and friends. They need to be able to recognise what constitutes a good relationship and how to maintain this.
- Have good self-esteem and confidence about their own ability. They will be able to recognise their strengths and be able to show respect to others. They can manage their own feelings and recognise how these can change as they grow older.
The long term plan for PSHE is below. As PSHE is not statutory in the National Curriculum here is the link to the guidelines (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-social-health-and-economic-education-pshe/personal-social-health-and-economic-pshe-education). There may be changes to the long term plan as we continue to recover our curriculum after National lockdowns.
If you require any further information about PSHE & RSE at our school please contact Mrs Summerfield via the school office.
