This year, we celebrated in two different ways. First of all, we asked all children to bring in their favourite book to share with the rest of their class. Secondly, as we are trying to increase our use of a wide range of vocabulary in school, instead of dressing up as a book character – children dressed up as a particular word.
Class 5 have been working with Durham Agency Against Crime as part of their Mini Police scheme. Over the last few weeks they have been learning about anti-social behaviour and the role of the Police. They have even learned the phonetic alphabet.
Their assembly last week showed everyone the types of anti-social behaviour we should be looking out for in our community.
Children now have a role as a ‘Mini Police’ officer at play times to help keep everyone safe.
Class 5 and 6 had a great day on Wednesday 29th January with staff from Show Racism the Red Card including a coaching session from ex-Newcastle footballer John Anderson. They learned all about discrimination and stereotypes. “We had so much fun but learned lots at the same time!”
