On Thursday, Class 6 visited Hamsterley forest as part of our Fantastic Forests topic. We spent the morning with Rio looking at how we could survive if stranded in the Amazon rainforest. This included learning about the animals who live there, the types of trees we would find, how and where to build a shelter and what equipment we would need to survive! In the afternoon, we use our new piece of equipment ( Now>Press> Play) to become immersed in a story about deforestation and how that can impact people’s lives. Their behaviour was excellent and they showed excellent manners to member of the public -we had a great day! Well Done class 6!
Class 6 were presented with certificates from the director of leadership and management at Staindrop Academy during our achievement assembly this week. Mr Cowen presented the certificates to everyone in Year 6 that took part in their cookery sessions this term, he commented how well all of the children had represented our school during their sessions at Staindrop Academy.
