End of Summer TermThe end of the Summer Term was celebrated with two excellent Assemblies. The Thank You Assembly was an enjoyable event with lots of children receiving awards for their hard work throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who presented trophies and to all those people who joined us for the assembly. The following day we had the year 6 Leavers' Assembly were they entertained everyone with their songs, dance and jokes. It was well attended and enjoyed by all. Well done to the Year 6 pupils and good luck in your new schools. Summer Break 2009Thank you to everyone who has supported the school this year. We have had another fantastic year. Good luck to everyone starting their new schools in September. Have a safe and happy summer break. See you on the 7th September. Welcome BackWelcome back to all our pupils and parents for the new academic year. We all look forward to another successful and eventful year. We also need to welcome our new Reception Class and wish them all the best as they learn and have fun at Copeland Road Primary. Christmas Fair and Birthday CelebrationThe 2nd December is the 80th Birthday of the school. To celebrate the birthday we are holding a Christmas Fair in the school hall. There is also a display of photographs of past and present pupils. Refreshments are available and a Birthday Cake has been made. The Fair is open to everyone in the community. Travel PlanThe Travel Plan team held a meeting on the 26th November to discuss travel to and from school. The team includes representatives from the pupils, staff, governors and local authority. We would welcome volunteers from parents to join this group at future meetings. If any parent is interested please contact Mr Nodding. Sports Day and Summer DiscoThe Sports Morning was very well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. The weather was excellent and everyone tried hard in their events. The parents and friends supported the children and they also enjoyed the opportunity to have a cake and coffee after the event. Thank you to everyyone for coming along and to allt the staff for their hard work in making this a very successful morning. We followed the Sports Morning with a disco in school which again was very successful. The children enjoyed the music, dancing and games. Thank you again to all those parents and staff who supported the disco. We raised £232.33 at the Sports Morning and Disco. Thank you very much. Wesak Celebration DayClass 2 had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Wesak Day as part of their work on Buddhism. The had the opportunity to eat a 'jewelled rice cake' which was made for the festival. Tennis FestivalCongratulations to our tennis team who won the local area final. They will now be representing the school in the next stages of the competition on the 8th June. Well done to Adam, Callum, Emily, Rebecca, Ryan, Katie, Regan and Emmy. Wolves LairThe team of five pupils representing the school at the Wolves Lair enterprise event had a fantastic time. The event, which was held at Auckland Castle gave the four primary schools involved the opportunity to showcase their enterprise activities. The Copeland Road team was Honor, Joseph, Lewis, Luke and Megan. They displayed their idea 'Badges for Fun' and talked to the local business people about their plans. The whole event was very successful and was enjoyed by the pupils who attended. Well done to the Copeland Road team for all their hard work. Red Nose DayWell done everyone for all the hard work on Red Nose Day. Children came into school dressed for the day in pyjamas, red, fancy dress and other non uniform ideas. Cakes were bought by parents and children in aid of the charity. Badges made by our own enterprise team were produced and sold. Parents attending the open morning bought tea and coffee. Basketball FestivalCongratulations to our basketball team who won the local festival at St John's School in February. Thanks to everyone who helped the team. Parents' SurveyThank you to everyone who has returned their survey. We welcome all comments and the information supplied will help us to improve our school. A summary will be sent out to parents as soon as possible. Christmas PerformanceThe Christmas Performances held on Wednesday 10th December were a wonderful success. Children throughout the school performed with enthusiasm at 2pm and 6pm for two packed audiences. Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for such an excellent start to Christmas. Hall Hill Farm VisitIn December Class 1 and 2 went to visit Santa at Hall Hill Farm. They went on a tractor ride around the farm, sang carols in the barn and fed the animals. They got a present from Santa and they each gave him a long list of Christmas wishes. Low Mill Residential WeekThis was our first experience of the Low Mill Centre in North Yorkshire but it will certainly not be the last. The centre was excellent and the children had great fun taking part in a wide range of exciting and challenging activities. They had an opportunity to take part in tasks that they may never experience again. This type of week is excellent for promoting confidence and independence. Well done to all the children and staff for all your hard work and effort.
Read more...Copeland Road visit FranceOn the 23rd June, twenty eight pupils and staff set off on a week long visit to Montdidier in France. They had a wonderful time and learned a great deal about life and traditions in France. They also had the opportunity to use the French they had been taught and have fun at Disneyland. It was a fantastic experience for all of the children. Film NightA film night was held in the school hall on Thursday 31st January. Following hot dogs and other refreshments the children and parents watched the Disney film 'Meet the Robinsons'. It was a very enjoyable night with about sixty children and a number of parents attending. |
